Waves, coils and twists, cut by people who know them

Five chairs in Ghent and three barbers who cut with your texture, not against it. Book a barber, or walk in and sign the board.

The texture guide

Find your texture, and what we do with it

Pick the one closest to your hair. Each tab says what we do, and how often to come back.

Every 2 to 3 weeks

Waves

A taper or skin fade cut with the grain, then a wash and brush to set the pattern. The lines stay sharp longer when the sides are kept short.

  • What we do: shape the taper, cut the nape clean, brush the waves in

  • How often: every 2 to 3 weeks to keep the lines sharp

  • At home: brush morning and night, and cover at night

Every 3 to 4 weeks

Coils

Cut dry or damp, whichever suits the coil, so the shape sits right once it springs back. Tapers, fades and tops of any length.

  • What we do: cut to the curl pattern, shape the crown, clean the edges

  • How often: every 3 to 4 weeks

  • At home: moisturize and let it set before you touch it

Every 3 to 5 weeks

Twists

A twist set on short to medium coils, and a tidy for twists you already have. We keep the sides and neckline sharp and the top at the length you want.

  • What we do: set the twists, taper the sides, clean the neckline

  • How often: every 3 to 5 weeks, or when the roots grow out

  • Bring a photo of the size and length you want

Locs upkeep

We shape up the edges, neckline and beard around your locs and tidy the sides. We leave the locs themselves as you keep them.

  • What we do: line the edges, clean the neckline, shape the beard

  • How often: every 3 to 4 weeks between your own loc care

  • Tell us how long you have had them when you book

Wash and brush

Four steps that finish every wave cut

The same four steps in the chair and at home, so the waves keep their shape between visits.

  1. Step 1: Wash

A gentle shampoo and warm water, rinsed until the scalp is clean and the hair is soft.

  2. Step 2: Moisturize

A light conditioner or moisturizer while the hair is damp, so the pattern can lie down.

  3. Step 3: Brush

A soft brush from the crown outward, following the pattern, until the waves line up.

  4. Step 4: Cover

A durag or wave cap tied on for the night holds the pattern until morning.
